CHURCH MEMBERSHIP – WHAT’S THE POINT?
Why Should You Become a Member Of Christian Life Church (CLC)
At CLC We believe that God is doing something great. Our Church Mission is to glorify God by transforming and empowering people to live victorious and purpose filled lives through Jesus Christ. We believe that because Jesus Christ died on the cross, we can overcome the many obstacles that we face daily; use our many talents and abilities to help our families and communities; and that you can achieve your life’s goals with a “little help and encouragement from your friends.”
We believe that membership in a church family is an extremely important part of a balanced and healthy Christian life.
Why is it important for me to join a church?
Most of the New Testament letters and the seven letters in Revelation 2 and 3 are written to local churches. God’s emphasis should be our emphasis. Jesus wants to “build” His church and we should too. You cannot help build it like you should if you are not a part of a local church. Every believer should join a local church and help build it so he makes a bigger impact on his community and the world.
Remember that the Lord Jesus said “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them” (Matthew 18:20). Every believer should belong to a local church so that they can exercise their spiritual gifts in the body of Christ. Every Christian has talents and abilities that can be used for the Lord in the local church. Believers must not hide their talents and abilities under a bushel. Christ loved the church and we should too. He said, I will build my church – and we should too. Christ gave himself for the church and we should too, but not die for it, but live for it.
Can’t I just come and be a part of weekly celebration services?
At CLC, we agree that it is important for anyone who is not a member of a local church to come and be a part of our weekly celebration services on a regular basis before you consider joining. This gives you an opportunity to experience firsthand what our heartbeat and values are as a congregation. However, it is critical to your future spiritual growth that you make a commitment to a body of believers who have spiritual values similar to yours. We recognize that there are many wonderful churches in the Northern Virginia area, however, we believe that we have much to offer and we are excited that you feel that God may be leading you to be a part of Reaching the Generations for Jesus
